Meet the team
Hughie Skivington – Group CEO/Special projects Managing Director
With Over 31 years’ experience in the scaffolding industry, Hugh has worked his way up the ladder from trainee scaffolder right through to director level and is now the owner of both JTL Scaffolding and JTL Special Projects. Hugh started JTL Special Projects in 2017 and following its success, purchased JTL Scaffolding in late 2021. Hugh has an extensive knowledge of scaffolding across various industries inclusive of M.O.D, Oil & Gas, Infrastructure, Industrial, Civil and commercial. Hugh Prides himself on his knowledge of operational/Safety management and his ability to solve all walks of issues due to his past experience on projects worldwide, both on and offshore. Countries include Ghana, Congo, Nigeria, St Johns (Canada), Las Palmas and Norway.

Andy Horton – Managing Director – JTL Scaffolding
Andy started his career as a welder before starting his own Scaffolding company. With Over 15 years’ experience in the scaffolding industry, he has worked nationally on many major projects. There isn’t many roles Andy hasn’t held in the industry from Scaffolder and Scaffolding Supervisor to Estimator and Quantity Surveyor and now Managing Director. He is the main Estimator within our business and adept to all aspects of running a scaffolding business. Sectors in which Andy experience include Construction, Oil & Gas, Industrial, Civils and Infrastructure. Responsibilities with JTL are to oversee all projects from the original contact with the client through to the final account.
Sandra Cole – Group Finance Director
Sandra has been managing Finance Teams for over 30 years. She spent almost 15 years based in London and worked in the International Headquarters of a company of which she was responsible for the accounting function of 13 divisions internationally. She moved back to Scotland in 2003 and has worked predominantly in the Oil & Gas industry. Previous companies she has worked for include Baker Hughes, Wolseley Group, Edmundson Electrical Ltd and Rigmar Services. Whilst working for the Wolseley Group as a Manager, part of her role was to visit and audit over 100 branches throughout the UK whilst managing a Finance Team of 30 based in Aberdeen. Sandra has a wealth of knowledge and experience within business and finance has introduced new processes and procedures during her time with the company. She oversees the day to day running of the finance and accounting function and is also providing support to various other areas within the business.
Gerry McNally – Operations Director – JTL Special Projects
With over 30 years experience in all and everything scaffolding, there isn’t much that Gerry doesn’t know when it comes to access solutions. Starting on the spanners, most of Gerry’s scaffolding career has been served in the oil and gas sector with companies such as Rigmar and Cape but the later part has been spent working onshore based projects for scaffolding contractors including Kaefer and Palmers gaining vast experience in large scale commercial and industrial projects.
Gerry is the Operations Director for JTL Special Projects and is responsible for the day to day running of JTL’s business covering the whole of Scotland.
He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge and no problem is too big or technical for Gerry to solve.
Matthew Johnson BEng (hons) – Engineering Manager
Initially starting his career via an advanced modern apprenticeship at 16 years old, he started as a Piping/Mechanical Designer for AMEC working on Carbon Capture and MOD projects in the UK and around the world including Iraq and Kuwait. The opportunity was presented to embark on a new challenge within the world of temporary works. Now, with over 14 years’ experience in Temporary Works engineering, Matthew is our own in-house engineer. Matthew has had a number of roles over his career which begun with a large industrial services company (Actavo/DSL) as an in house designer, gaining experience on all manners of industrial projects from MOD and Nuclear to refineries and power stations around the world. Following this he spent a number of years with one of the country’s leading temporary works consultancies (RDG Engineering), Matthew gained valuable experience in large scale commercial projects in London and also Rail Projects country wide. Having him on board allows JTL to further expand the service and support we can offer our clients with their temporary works and scaffolding requirements.
Matthew also works closely with the ICE helping to shape the future for young engineers in construction.
Dave Williams – Estimating Manager – JTL Scaffolding
Peter Raffle – Senior Administrator – JTL Scaffolding
Over 15 years’ experience. This includes vast extensive knowledge of various, Infrastructure, Industrial, Civil and commercial as well as the private sector, synthesise information and knowledge to achieve a solution. Primary responsibilities within the JTL Group is Public relations and all legalities, further education and on going training.
Peters is a key part of the team ensuring all Audits are completed to the highest of standard to ensure our continuous membership of trade bodies like CHAS, Constructionline, Scaffolding Association and more. Peter is also JTL Groups Mental Health First Aider.
Amy Foster – Finance Administrator – JTL Scaffolding
Amy comes from a family heavily committed to the scaffolding industry so has been exposed to the scaffolding industry from a very early age. Amy is a key part of our accounts team and works along side our supervisors to ensure all works are billed correctly and without issue.
Dave Keogh – Finance/Administration Assistance – JTL Special Projects
Dave has working in the accounts management for over 20 years covering a multitude of businesses and industries. Dave’s current roles include account management, Payroll and many other administrative roles and duties that are required.
Wayne Johnston – Managing Supervisor – JTL Scaffolding
Stephen Watson – Managing Supervisor – JTL Scaffolding
Stephen joined JTL in the early days as a Scaffolder and is one of our longest serving members of staff. During his time as a scaffolder with JTL, he specialised in social housing and refurbishment projects, gaining vast experience in this field. This meant he was the ideal candidate to take a supervisor role when the opportunity arose.
Stephen is responsible for the day to day management of the workforce and client interface on commercial projects, Social Housing Projects and Refurbishment projects ensuring they run efficiently and without issue.
Jordan Breen – Quantity Surveyor – JTL Scaffolding
Now with JTL in a role as a Quantity Surveyor, Jordan has helped modernise our application processes and is constantly looking for ways to further improve the transition from works completed to applying for payment.
Mark Sanderson – Yard Manager
Starting his career in the military, Mark served 5 years with the Royal Logistics Corps as driver transporting everything from Tanks, armoured vehicles and ammunition to fuel, water and food.
After leaving the military, Mark found himself using his skills to further his work with Heavy goods transport, working as a fitter and shunter driver with a large coachworks company manufacturing HGV trailers. This lead him to later gaining contacts within the scaffolding industry and became a driver for a large scaffolding company in the North east.
When Mark was then given the opportunity to become involved with a new scaffolding company, becoming the first HGV driver at JTL Scaffolding.
Having been with the company since day one, Mark is now the Yard manager for JTL Scaffolding and is responsible for maintenance and distribution of all materials that come in and out of the yard. Mark also manages our fleet of Wagons ensuring all checks and services are up to date without issue.
